WebJul 15, 2007 · To properly bleed the coolant system, remove the cap on the rad (WITH THE CAR COLD OF COURSE) then start the car. Allow the system to run through a full fan cycle with the cap off, then put the cap back on. I usually squeeze the upper rad hose to help facilitate the bleeding of the system. Thats all there is to it. WebWhen the bleed screw is loosened, antifreeze is added to the engine's cooling system and the increase in fluid pressure displaces air through the opened bleed screw. When liquid begins to flow out, all air has been removed from the system and the bleed screw is closed.
